自古以來，仁人君子***愛天地間馨香俊雅美麗之物。歲月弗奪、璀璨如金。金絲楠匯天地之靈氣、成***人間之大美，其木質堅硬耐腐，木紋金絲奇特，向明視之，閃爍耀眼。自古******藏書樓、金漆寶座、室內裝修等多為楠木制作，被稱為“帝王之木”。明清兩代，金絲楠木被欽定為皇帝御用之木，民間禁止擁有和使用，是中國文化中極******貴的象征。
Since ancient times, noble people have always been fond of fragrant and beautiful things. Golden-silk Nanmu is considered as one of them. Golden-silk Nanmu (Phoebe nanmu) is a large species of tree up to 30 metres (98 ft) tall in the Lauraceae family. It is considered a combination of the essence between heaven and earth, which forms the greatest beauty. Its wood is firm in nature and never decays, with golden silk-like grain.
Nanmu is known as "the Imperial Wood" because it has been widely used in building royal libraries, gilded thrones and interior decorations since ancient China. In Ming and Qing dynasties, Golden-silk Nanmu was even appointed specifically as of royal use, thus its possession and use by civilians was strictly prohibited. Consequently, the wood is a symbol of supreme status and extreme importance in Chinese culture.
陰沉金絲楠木是兩千年至萬年前，天體發生自然變異，由地震、洪水、泥石流將地上植物生物等全部埋入古河床等低洼處，一些埋入淤泥中的部分樹木，在缺氧、高壓狀態下，在細菌等微生物的作用下，經過數千年甚至上萬年的炭化過程而形成。古語有云：“縱有珠寶一箱，不如烏木一方”，蜀人所稱的“烏木”可謂價值連城。金絲楠烏木不僅是四川地區珍貴遺產，更是古蜀文化的重要組成部分，有“植物木乃伊”、“活化石”、“東方神木”之美稱。因樹種的不同，市場******又有不同，其中以楠木屬的陰沉金絲楠木（小葉楨楠）***為昂貴。
The “Wumu”, or the Black Wood of Golden-silk Nanmu is a kind of semi fossilized wood. Its formation can be dated back to two thousand to ten thousand years ago, when natural variations like earthquakes, floods, mudslides buried the Golden-silk Nanmu woods into low-lying areas. Some of the woods that were buried had been through a process of carbonization for thousands of years under high pressure without oxygen. Together with the actions of microorganisms, finally it becomes “Wumu”.
As the old saying goes: "I would choose a cubic of Wumu rather than a box of jewelry." The "Wumu" can be priceless. The “Wumu” of Golden-silk Nanmu is not only a valuable heritage in Sichuan region, but also an important component of the ancient Sichuan culture. It has reputations as "living fossil" and "Oriental tree".
The market prices differ according to different species, among which the “Wumu” of Golden-silk Nanmu (Sichuan lobular Machilus) is the most expensive.
